So our drummer left us. He went on to be the front man of his own band in Peru. We had the songs half in demo mode and half recorded... So it was just Luis and I once more... Since our band was pretty much not a band anymore, we decided that we may as well look for a bassist... we had never played with a bassist before so we figured it was time.. After a lot of posting ads up and flyers we finally got our first phone call from a drummer called Ben. Luis and I nervously waited for him at Pete's room in the music building... we had no idea how we were gonna pull it off.. Ben seemed concerned that there would be no bassist in the try out. And apparently I had no idea what instrument I would be playing.. It was my plan to play guitar though I did not know how... I was still looking into what guitar to buy.. I wanted to give the keyboard a rest. So Ben walks in and we talk a bit about music as he starts setting up his cymbals... He asks me, "so what are you playing?" I said "guitar, but I mainly do sounds and noises so since today we just wanted to see the basics, I will just sing" He seemed to buy it so Luis proceeded to play his guitar and sing a few demos along with me.. first song we played was Monster of Dawn... Ben seemed pleased and said he enjoyed playing the song because it was a laid back beat and he could sit back and enjoy listening to it as well. Pete interrupted the rehearsal to kinda check Ben out as well to give us his OK since Pete is also a drummer.. We didn't need the OK though.. we knew Ben was the guy for the band.. So an hour into the try out we told him.. "So you are in if you want" Ben looked like he was put on the spot but gracefully said "I'd like to play a few more times with you guys, the songs are great" I guess that was a maybe. So a few times turned into Ben never leaving.. so one night Luis made him shout in the car that he was part of the band already.. Then Ben proceeded in trying to decipher Luis' lyrics..to which Luis answered, " we have to go out and get you drunk and then I will explain them to you"
